Panthers Trade Proposal Brings 3-Time 1,000-Yard Receiver to Help Bryce Young

The Carolina Panthers are in need of significant help at wide receiver, especially in finding a long-term No. 1 target for quarterback Bryce Young.

Among the current wide receivers—Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker, and Xavier Legette—the Panthers still have a lot of room for improvement. While Thielen showed he still has some ability left in 2024, he is no longer a true No. 1 receiver. He would effectively be the Panthers’ top option heading into the 2025 season due to the inexperience of Coker and Legette.

The Panthers could really benefit from adding someone who can be a long-term solution and a reliable No. 1 receiver to help Young develop further.

Bleacher Report’s Mitch Milani believes New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson could be a surprising trade target this offseason. If Wilson becomes available, Milani suggests the Panthers could look into acquiring him, offering a 2026 first-round pick in return.

Wilson would be exactly what the Panthers need. The former first-round pick has surpassed 1,000 yards in each of his first three NFL seasons, even with inconsistent quarterback play throughout his career. There’s little doubt that Wilson has the potential to be an elite wide receiver, especially with more reliable quarterback play, which Bryce Young could provide.

Although trading a first-round pick for Wilson would be costly, particularly if it turns out to be a high pick, Wilson is under contract for two more seasons, including his fifth-year option. At just 25 years old in July, he could be the long-term solution the Panthers need at receiver.

However, there’s been no indication that the Jets are looking to trade Wilson, and moving him wouldn’t make much sense given their own wide receiver struggles. While Wilson was reportedly unhappy last season due to the situation with Aaron Rodgers, the departure of Rodgers and the addition of head coach Aaron Glenn and quarterback Justin Fields could change the dynamic.

Though it seems unlikely that the Jets will move Wilson this offseason, if they do, the Panthers should be aggressive in pursuing him.
