Texas is undergoing a crucial offseason as Steve Sarkisian aims to maintain the Longhorns’ recent success. Sarkisian and his coaching team face the challenge of filling the significant talent gaps left by last year’s squad, which reached the College Football Playoff. They secured an impressive recruiting class in 2025 and have already added several impactful transfers.
Nevertheless, their efforts aren’t complete. On Tuesday, Sarkisian informed reporters that the team plans to strengthen its roster in three vital positions during the upcoming spring transfer portal window: defensive tackle, tight end, and wide receiver.

Texas has experienced significant departures in three key positions this offseason. At wide receiver, Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden both opted to turn pro after last season. Additionally, Gunnar Helm is also leaving for the NFL, which leaves the Longhorns without a seasoned starting tight end. On the interior defensive line, the team has lost its three leaders in snaps from 2024: Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton, and Jermayne Lole.
Sarkisian emphasized that he is seeking players who can make an immediate impact.
“It’s no secret that we’re targeting the portal, but I won’t just bring in someone for the sake of having another body,” he stated.
The spring transfer portal window is set to open on April 16.
