The Sam Houston baseball team, led by head coach Jay Sirianni, revealed its 2025 schedule on Tuesday, marking a challenging season as the program enters its second year in Conference USA.
“We have a lot of new faces this year, but the expectations remain high,” said Sirianni. “This schedule reflects that. We pride ourselves on competing against tough teams, which is possible due to the high-quality competition within our region and Conference USA.”
The 56-game schedule features 31 home games at Don Sanders Stadium, beginning with a three-game series against future CUSA rival Missouri State, set for February 14-16. The team will also host NJIT for four games (Feb 21-23) and a three-game series with Abilene Christian (March 14-16) before kicking off CUSA play against defending champion Louisiana Tech (March 21-23).
The team faces tough competition early in March with a trip to Frisco for the Frisco Classic at Riders Field, followed by a three-game series at Oklahoma. In Frisco, Sam Houston will compete against three 2024 postseason teams: Nebraska, Kansas State, and LSU, with LSU and Kansas State both making Super Regional appearances.
“We’ve had great experiences in showcases like the Frisco Classic and Minute Maid Classic,” Sirianni said. “This is another chance for us to showcase our program and measure ourselves against some of the best teams in the nation.”
Other notable home series include matchups against NM State (April 4-6), Kennesaw State (April 11-13), Liberty (May 2-4), and FIU (May 15-17). On the road, the Kats will play league series at WKU (March 28-30), Dallas Baptist (April 17-19), Jax State (April 25-27), and Middle Tennessee (May 9-11).
The team also has midweek games, including home-and-home series with Rice (Feb 18, April 1) and Baylor (March 11, April 29). Additionally, Sam Houston will face Texas A&M, a College World Series finalist in 2024, with home and away games scheduled for April 8 and April 22, respectively.
Other midweek games include a trip to Texas on March 25 and hosting HCU on May 13. The Don Sanders Cup series against Houston will take place on March 12 in Huntsville and March 18 in Houston, with a final matchup on March 18 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.
The Conference USA Tournament is set for May 21-25 at Worthington Field in Lynchburg, Va.
