Cal WR Mavin Anderson Reportedly Plans to Enter Transfer Portal

Mavin Anderson, a fifth-year senior wide receiver, is reportedly planning to enter the transfer portal, as per On3.

The 6-foot, 195-pound wideout from Mission Viejo, CA, is at least the sixth Cal player to announce his departure from the program on Monday. While the transfer portal officially opens on Wednesday, players often share their intentions ahead of time.

Anderson joined Cal in the fall of 2021 and redshirted his freshman year. He had a strong 2022 season, recording 37 receptions for 372 yards and three touchdowns, including a career-high seven catches in the Big Game against Stanford.

However, his role has decreased in recent years. In 2023, he caught just eight passes for 87 yards in nine games, and in 2022, he had 14 catches for 99 yards over eight games, without scoring a touchdown in either season.

At Mission Viejo High School, Anderson helped his team to a 21-3 record over his sophomore and junior years before the COVID pandemic canceled his senior season. He registered 67 receptions for 4,018 yards and 10 touchdowns in high school, earning a 247Sports composite 4-star rating.
