UNC loses two Class of 2025 commitments in less than 24 hours to elite SEC program

Two former commits from the UNC football program have decided to pursue their careers at different schools.

This isn’t good news…

In just one day, UNC has lost two commitments from the Class of 2025.

The first departure came on Monday night when three-star tight end Logan Farrell chose to commit to Illinois instead. Ranked No. 36 among tight ends in the Class of 2025, Farrell made this decision following his visit to Illinois over the weekend. He had been committed to North Carolina for almost a year, having initially announced his pledge to the Tar Heels in November 2023.

The second came on Tuesday afternoon as fellow three-star tight end Marshall Pritchett announced that he will be flipping his commitment to Alabama.

This news isn’t surprising, given that there have been rumors circulating for weeks. Pritchett has reportedly shown significant interest in the Crimson Tide, with discussions heating up throughout October. Before altering his commitment, Pritchett had been committed to the UNC football program since March 23.

Although neither recruit is a five-star talent, it’s always concerning for a program to see commitments fall through. With this development, the UNC football program now has only 12 commitments in the Class of 2025, raising questions about the current state of recruiting in Chapel Hill.

Could the team’s recent performance and the uncertainty regarding Mack Brown’s future as head coach be contributing factors?
