The Georgia Bulldogs struggled to match the production of former star tight end Brock Bowers last season, but reinforcements could be on the horizon. According to On3’s Steven Wiltfong, Georgia is emerging as the frontrunner to land five-star tight end Mark Bowman in the 2026 recruiting class.
“Georgia continues to impress five-star tight end Mark Bowman who returned for a two-day trip,” Wiltfong reported on Tuesday. “I could see the Mater Dei standout in Athens when all is said and done.”
The Bulldogs are making a strong push at the tight end position for the 2026 cycle. During the second weekend of April, Georgia hosted both Bowman and fellow 2026 tight end Kaiden Prothro on campus. Per 247Sports, Bowman and Prothro are considered the top two tight end prospects in their class. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Bowman ranks as the No. 2 tight end and No. 14 overall prospect nationally, while also being the No. 3 recruit in California.
Georgia had 5-star TE Mark Bowman back in Athens for G-Day and he is a top target for the Bulldogs.

Mark Bowman’s father, Kirk, had high praise for their family’s latest trip to Athens.
“Great visit! As we talked about, the practice was the main event, and it lived up to all of our expectations,” Kirk Bowman told Steven Wiltfong. “It was great to watch Todd Hartley coach in person, and Kirby on the mic was exactly what I hoped for.”
He also took note of Georgia’s depth at the tight end position.
“It’s a deep and talented tight end room,” he said. “What stood out most to me is that Kirby is building a team that’s connected, tough, and plays with intensity—and he’s pulling it off during one of the most challenging eras in college football history.”
