Arizona Cardinals Poised to Add Another Former FSU Star
The Arizona Cardinals are already home to three former Florida State players, and they may soon be adding another to their roster.
As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, at least two former Seminoles are set to enter the league next weekend, while others with FSU ties, including some standout players, remain free agents into April.
One such player is DeMarcus Walker, the former FSU defensive end who was recently released by the Chicago Bears. After visiting the New York Giants earlier this month, Walker is still searching for a new team. However, a move to the NFC West could be in the cards. According to Pro Football Network’s Mark Stolte, the Arizona Cardinals are likely to pursue Walker.
For Florida State fans, this move would make sense, especially considering the Cardinals’ recent acquisition of Josh Sweat from the Philadelphia Eagles on a four-year, $76.4 million deal. Additionally, running back Trey Benson and safety Jammie Robinson are also part of the Cardinals’ roster.
Stolte points out that Arizona ranked 25th in pressure rate last season, according to TruMedia, and adding Sweat should help bolster the defensive line. But there’s still room for improvement, especially with their interior defensive line.
“DeMarcus Walker ranked 93rd out of 179 pass rushers with at least 200 snaps last season in pressure rate,” Stolte writes. “He also ranked 90th out of 211 defensive linemen in PFF’s run-defense grade. While he’s not a game-changer, Walker offers valuable versatility as he can play both on the edge and inside. He’d bring much-needed depth to Arizona’s defensive line, and he could be a low-cost option.”
