Massive News: Stunning As SDSU Jackrabbit Elite Gets Significant Recognition For The Awards

SDSU quarterback Mark Gronowski was announced as one of 16 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy on Wednesday, an annual award celebrating the top scholar-athlete in college football.

Each finalist will receive an $18,000postgraduatescholarshipaspartofthe2024NationalFootballFoundationNationalScholar-AthleteClass,presentedbyFidelityInvestments.TherecipientoftheCampbellTrophy,whowillalsoreceivea$ 25,000 postgraduate scholarship, will be revealed on December 10 at the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Gronowski has been a four-year starter and three-time team captain for the Jackrabbits, boasting a record of 42-5 and leading the team to consecutive FCS national championships. He won the 2023 Walter Payton Award and was named the Offensive Player of the Year by the FCS Athletics Directors Association last season, leading the subdivision in passing efficiency with a rating of 179.6. Over his career, he has accumulated 8,811 passing yards, 81 touchdowns, and an additional 1,599 rushing yards with 30 touchdowns.

Academically, Gronowski achieved a 3.76 GPA and graduated this spring with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was also named the 2023 FCS ADA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and selected as a second-team member of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Team. Currently, he is pursuing a master’s degree in engineering management.

Gronowski is the fifth Jackrabbit football player to be recognized as a Campbell Trophy finalist, following Ryan Berry (2008), Zach Zenner (2014), Jake Wieneke (2017), and Taryn Christion (2018).
