REPORTS: UNC Basketball Key Battle for Former Duke Commit
Can Hubert Davis pull off a stunning recruiting win?
Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels are currently shaping their roster for the 2025-26 college basketball season as a crucial offseason begins. With some gaps to fill, the Tar Heels need to find a way to get back on track.
So far, UNC has secured four players from the transfer portal and has a three-man recruiting class set to join. But will they be adding more talent?
With some roster spots available, a former Duke commit is reportedly looking at North Carolina as a potential destination. According to Marcus Gutierrez, Shelton Henderson is exploring several programs and could announce his decision as soon as Monday.
Henderson recently de-committed from Duke and is considering options that include Kentucky, Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, and North Carolina.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward from Bellaire, Texas, is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation, No. 2 among small forwards, and the top player in Texas according to the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
At this time, Miami is considered the frontrunner to acquire him, with Jai Lucas, a former Duke assistant and the new head coach there, leading the recruitment efforts.
