There was no question that Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers had an unforgettable season in 2024–25. The Tigers made it to the NCAA Tournament Final Four but fell short against their conference rival Florida in San Antonio. This marked just the second time in the program’s history that they reached the Final Four.
Currently, Pearl and his staff are diligently working to navigate the NCAA transfer portal, which remains open until Tuesday. Auburn is among the most active teams in college basketball during this period.
On Saturday, the Tigers received exciting news that will enhance their roster for the 2025–26 season. Joe Tipton from On3 Sports reported a significant transfer development: “BREAKING: Auburn has secured a commitment from top D2 transfer Elyjah Freeman, he told @On3sports.”

Freeman, hailing from Wellington, Florida, made a notable impact at Lincoln Memorial University during the 2024–25 season. He was recognized as the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year and received first-team All-Conference accolades.
He took his first visit to Auburn on April 11.
The forward opted to join the Tigers, turning down offers from three other prominent SEC teams—Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky—who were also vying for his commitment in the transfer portal.
As Freeman begins his time with the Tigers, he will have three years of eligibility left. Last season, he averaged an impressive 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, boasting a shooting percentage of 46.3% from beyond the arc.
There’s been a lot of discussion about Auburn potentially starting five new players as the season kicks off. Thankfully, they’ve managed to attract some strong talent to fill the void left by those who moved on.
Keyshawn Hall tops the list of newcomers, transferring from Central Florida. He will be joined by KeShawn Murphy, who comes from Mississippi State, along with Emeka Opurum and Kevin Overton.
