Eagles Fan-Favorite Tight End Draws Trade Speculation
It’s been a strange offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles, and things could get even more interesting soon.
Tight end Dallas Goedert, who has one year remaining on his contract, has found himself at the center of trade rumors. There’s growing speculation that he could be moved before long.
This buzz has sparked a lot of chatter about potential destinations. Pro Football Network’s Sterling Xie named Goedert as the Eagles’ top trade candidate and surprisingly included the Kansas City Chiefs as a “potential fit.”
“Philadelphia Eagles: TE Dallas Goedert,” Xie said. “Potential Fits: Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles have a stacked roster capable of winning back-to-back Super Bowls. However, due to Howie Roseman’s aggressive use of void years to maintain their roster, they’re carrying the third-most dead money in the league this year ($61 million) and are projected to be in a similar position next year. This financial strain will force difficult decisions about which players are worth keeping long-term. Dallas Goedert is likely at the top of that list, as he’s entering the final year of his contract. The Jaguars, after parting ways with Evan Engram, could start Brenton Strange at tight end, while the Chiefs could also be a fit. Travis Kelce is nearing the end of his career, and no team ran more multi-tight end sets than the Chiefs in 2024.”
While the Chiefs already have a future Hall of Fame tight end in Travis Kelce, who comes with a hefty price tag, the idea of Goedert joining Kansas City seems unlikely. But as always, stranger things have happened.
