COMMITMENT: FIU Panthers Makes Another Smashing Addition

FIU Adds JUCO Transfer Safety Ormond Wallace

FIU has strengthened its safety position by adding Ormond Wallace, a transfer from Hutchinson Community College. Wallace, who spent two years at Hutchinson, will have two years of eligibility left at FIU.

In the previous season, Wallace recorded 22 total tackles (11 solo/11 assisted), along with two tackles for loss and one sack. Over his two-year stint, he totaled 39 tackles (19 solo/20 assisted), 4.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

After high school, Wallace received offers from Arkansas and Georgia Tech but opted for the JUCO route. A native of Alabama, he is now joining FIU’s secondary under coach Kenneth Gilstrap.

FIU recently lost starting safeties Jojo Evans and CJ Christian to power conference programs. In response, the Panthers added Arkansas State transfer Websley Etienne, Illinois transfer Demetrius Hill, and also returners Shamir Sterlin and Bobby Salla Jr.

Last season, FIU’s pass defense ranked fourth in Conference USA, allowing just 179.6 passing yards per game, and they also finished fifth in total defense.
