Spartans Add Transfer Forward Marah Dykstra to Strengthen Frontcourt
The Michigan State Spartans are gearing up for the upcoming season with a strong addition to their frontcourt. Montana State junior forward Marah Dykstra has officially signed with MSU for her senior year, bolstering their lineup for the 2025-’26 season.
Dykstra spent her first three seasons at Montana State and is now making the leap to a major program with the goal of making an impact in the Big Ten. With 72 starts in 91 career games, she brings a wealth of experience to the table.
During her junior season, Dykstra enjoyed a career year, averaging 12.4 points on 46.9% shooting, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. She was also impressive from the free-throw line, hitting 82.6% of her attempts.
Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Dykstra was the second-leading scorer for Montana State, helping the team to a 30-4 record and capturing both the Big Sky conference regular-season and tournament titles. The Bobcats’ season ended with a first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament to No. 4 Ohio State.

Michigan State will be losing senior forward Jocelyn Tate, a key contributor last season, and Dykstra is expected to fill that role. At 6-2, Dykstra offers a similar skill set to Tate and adds the size the Spartans will need to compete at the top of the Big Ten.
Beyond her size, Dykstra’s scoring ability will be invaluable. She scored 20 or more points in five games last season, including a season-high 29 points. Her capability to take over games will be a key asset for Michigan State.
With guard Julia Ayrault departing, Michigan State will need additional guard support. Dykstra joins Purdue transfer Rashunda Jones in what is shaping up to be a competitive roster, but the Spartans may need one more addition to position themselves as top contenders in the conference.
