Illinois Linebacker Seth Coleman Signs with Seattle Seahawks as Undrafted Free Agent
Former Illinois linebacker Seth Coleman has signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, marking the next step in his football journey. Despite not being selected in the NFL Draft, Coleman is getting an opportunity to pursue his professional career with the Seahawks after agreeing to a free-agent contract on Saturday.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, Coleman hails from Melbourne, Florida. Over his five years with the Illini, he played in 56 games. A regular starter until injuries slowed him last season, Coleman recorded 183 tackles, 15.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles, playing a key role in the team’s successful 10-win season.

Although he went undrafted last weekend, Coleman took control of his NFL destiny by signing with Seattle, a decision that could shape his future in the league. Coleman now has the chance to make an impact on Seattle’s defense, which runs a 3-4 scheme, just like the Illini. The Seahawks will be looking for versatile edge rushers, and Coleman’s size and ability to stop the run while also rushing the passer make him a potential fit in coach Mike MacDonald’s system.
