Top NC State Basketball Transfer Target Chooses Oklahoma
The NC State basketball program will not be the next destination for former five-star prospect Derrion Reid.
Just a week ago, NC State appeared to be the frontrunner to land Alabama Crimson Tide combo forward Derrion Reid, who transferred after his freshman year. However, the Wolfpack’s recent success in the transfer portal, particularly with frontcourt additions, seemed to diminish their chances of securing Reid.
Oklahoma soon emerged as the new favorite in his recruitment, and on Monday night, Reid confirmed his commitment to the Sooners.
Reid had a modest freshman season, averaging 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per game over 24 appearances. Despite limited playing time, Reid’s explosive athleticism and potential on both ends of the floor were evident. His performance came for an Alabama team that finished 28-9 and made a run to the Elite Eight before falling to Duke. He still has three years of eligibility remaining.
Meanwhile, first-year NC State head coach Will Wade has been busy, securing six transfers for his program: three-star power forward Colt Langdon, four-star power forward Jerry Deng, four-star small forward Terrance Arceneaux, four-star point guard Quadir Copeland, four-star shooting guard Alyn Breed, and four-star point guard Tre Holloman.
