Mizzou Guard Tamar Bates Declares for NBA Draft

In a move that doesn’t come as a big surprise, Missouri Tigers senior guard Tamar Bates has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. After two standout seasons as one of Mizzou’s top scorers, Bates is ready to take a shot at the professional level.
Bates, a seasoned college basketball player, started his career at Indiana, where he played for two years before transferring to Missouri. This past season, he averaged 13.3 points per game, adding to a solid 13.5 points per game in his junior year—both representing his best statistical seasons. By comparison, his first two years at Indiana saw him average just 3.9 and 6.1 points per game.
Having recently competed in the Portsmouth Invitational, Bates made it clear that he’s focused on carving out a spot for himself in the NBA. While concerns about his age and inconsistency in scoring have persisted, he still possesses the skillset that could make him competitive at the next level.

Bates played a pivotal role in Mizzou’s successful season, contributing not only with his scoring but also through his leadership and ability to hit mid-range shots. Though he hasn’t been listed in many NBA mock drafts yet, a strong performance at the combine could certainly boost his stock.
