FINAL Bowling Green football HC Eddie George Transfer Portal UPDATE

Eddie George has successfully brought in a former Ohio State player through the spring transfer portal, adding another ex-Buckeye to the Bowling Green roster. Ohio State had a relatively quiet spring portal period, losing just four players—none of whom were scholarship athletes. Running back TC Caffey, punter Anthony Venneri, long snapper Morrow Evans, and wide receiver Reis Stocksdale, all walk-ons, chose to leave the program.

On the positive side, Ohio State made some key additions through the portal, bringing in former North Carolina defensive end Beau Atkinson, Ball State kicker Jake Courville, and West Virginia offensive tackle Justin Terry.

One of the departing Buckeyes, Stocksdale, has already found a new home. After four seasons at Ohio State, Stocksdale, who has one year of eligibility left, is transferring to Bowling Green State University to play under new head coach Eddie George. During his time at Ohio State, Stocksdale caught just one pass for 12 yards in the 2022 season, and with limited playing time expected in 2025, the move to Bowling Green gives him a chance to contribute more significantly.

Stocksdale is the first confirmed former Ohio State walk-on to find a new team after entering the portal. His move to Bowling Green keeps him relatively close to home, as it’s just a short trip to Northwest Ohio.

For George, a Heisman Trophy winner who is starting his first season as Bowling Green’s head coach, having a former Buckeye on his roster is a surprising yet exciting development.
