Steelers Insider Reveals When Aaron Rodgers Is Expected to Sign
A Pittsburgh Steelers insider has offered a timeline for when Aaron Rodgers is likely to make his free agency decision. With the Steelers’ pursuit of Rodgers approaching the two-month mark, one insider believes the quarterback will sign with the team soon.
On Monday, during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly shared his expectation that Rodgers will sign before the team’s mandatory minicamp, which takes place from June 10 to June 12.
Kaboly suggested that Rodgers could put pen to paper between May 25 and June 10, as organized team activities (OTAs) are scheduled from May 27 to June 5.
He echoed the same belief in a Twitter mailbag on April 30 when asked when Rodgers would “come home.” Kaboly responded, “I assume you mean Pittsburgh when you say ‘home,'” adding, “I’m glad you’re finally catching on to what I’ve been saying for two months now (I forgive you). I say May 22, but definitely before OTAs start on May 27.”
Pittsburgh has long been seen as the most likely destination for the four-time MVP, which has led to some frustration around the league over Rodgers’ delay in making a decision.
However, during an April 21 appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers emphasized that his personal life was his top priority and that he didn’t feel any pressure to make a decision by a specific deadline.
The Steelers didn’t select a quarterback early in the 2025 NFL Draft, opting instead to wait until the sixth round to pick Ohio State’s Will Howard. This move could signal their confidence that Rodgers will eventually join the team.
Kaboly also noted that the Steelers won’t give up on pursuing Rodgers, even if the situation stretches into late July and the start of training camp. “They’re not going to shut it down concerning Rodgers because they pretty much know what’s going to happen,” Kaboly said. “If they have to wait until training camp, then so be it. They’ll never officially say they’re out, even if it gets to a point where they lose interest.”
If Rodgers does sign with Pittsburgh, as many expect, the team will be able to focus on the rest of their offseason preparations for what promises to be a pivotal 2025 season.
