As five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington approaches his decision, USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley and his staff are deeply involved in one of the most heated recruiting battles in the country. Arrington, a standout at Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, California, is set to announce his college commitment on July 5, with USC remaining a strong contender.

With several official visits scheduled for June, including a critical one to Los Angeles, the Trojans will have their final opportunity to present their case for one of the top defensive prospects in the 2025 class.

However, USC isn’t the only school in the running.

Ranked No. 13 nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking, Arrington has narrowed his list to five finalists: USC, Alabama, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Penn State. The 6-1, 180-pound cornerback has quickly become one of the most coveted defensive players in the country, attracting offers from schools across the nation.

While Penn State made a strong impression during his initial official visit last weekend, USC is leaning on its deep West Coast connections, a strong rapport with cornerbacks coach Doug Belk, and its proximity to Arrington’s home to seal the deal.

For USC, the relationship between Arrington and coach Belk has played a pivotal role. “Since coach Belk saw me, he has recruited me hard,” Arrington shared with On3. “He is my guy.”

This bond, combined with the chance to play close to home and join an emerging defensive squad, gives the Trojans a solid chance. USC’s coaching staff has highlighted early playing time, NFL development, and the potential for a top-tier 2025 recruiting class, which may feature multiple elite defenders—a pitch that aligns well with Arrington’s goals.
