The Indiana Pacers are set to sign center Moses Brown, according to multiple sources, with ESPN being the first to report the deal.
At 25 years old, Brown joins the Pacers at a crucial time as the team is lacking depth at the center position. On opening night, they lost James Wiseman to a torn Achilles, and Isaiah Jackson, their backup center, suffered the same injury a few games later. This left Myles Turner to hold down the fort, supported by Enrique Freeman, a two-way contract player, and Obi Toppin. However, Turner missed a game in Toronto recently, and Toppin was unavailable for the Pacers’ matchup with the New York Knicks. With center depth in short supply, the team is bringing in Brown to fill the gap.
Brown, a UCLA product, is an attractive addition due to his impressive size and rebounding ability. He has been playing for the Westchester Knicks in the G League this season, where he has averaged 18.5 points and 13.8 rebounds per game.
The Pacers, who currently rank 26th in rebounding, could certainly benefit from Brown’s skills, particularly when facing bigger teams. While he may not be a complete solution, his size alone could help the Pacers improve their rebounding efforts. Brown has five years of NBA experience, including a stint with the Portland Trail Blazers last season, where he averaged 3.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22 games. His most productive season came with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2020-21, when he posted averages of 8.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
