William Nylander Comments on Exchange with Matthew Tkachuk After Game 4
Tempers flared both on the ice and the benches during the final moments of Game 4 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers on Sunday night.
The tension began when Max Domi delivered a controversial hit from behind on Aleksander Barkov as time expired, sparking a scrum between players on the ice. Meanwhile, Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk was already strategizing for Game 5 from the bench and took the opportunity to send a message to the Maple Leafs. He pointed at William Nylander with his stick and made an elbow gesture, seemingly signaling that he would be targeting the Toronto star in the next game.

Following the game, reporters asked Nylander about his exchange with Tkachuk. Nylander downplayed the situation but acknowledged that Tkachuk would likely try to disrupt the Leafs’ focus in Game 5.
“He’ll probably do whatever he can to get a player off their game, but yeah, next game’s going to be a fun one,” Nylander said, per TSN’s Mark Masters.
With the series tied 2-2, the fiery conclusion of Game 4 could carry over into Game 5 as the action moves back to Sunrise, Florida. The puck drops for Wednesday’s game at 7:00 p.m. ET.
