Ohio State Buckeyes Score Big Recruiting Win on Monday
The Ohio State Buckeyes landed a significant commitment on Monday evening with the addition of four-star cornerback Jordan Thomas, boosting their secondary depth for the upcoming seasons.
Over the past decade, Ohio State has developed some of the nation’s top wide receivers and defensive backs, and that trend shows no signs of slowing down. Their pipeline for top receivers continues to grow, and now, the Buckeyes have added another key piece to their defensive backfield.
Thomas, a highly sought-after prospect, chose Ohio State over numerous other elite programs. Standing at 6-foot-1, Thomas received offers from several prominent Division I schools, including Alabama and Auburn, before deciding on the Buckeyes. Ohio State’s Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri were key recruiters in securing his commitment.

Hailing from Oradell, New Jersey, and playing for Bergen Catholic, Thomas is ranked as the 16th-best cornerback in the Class of 2026 and the second-best player in New Jersey. According to recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett, Thomas’ decision to join Ohio State came down to the program’s strong reputation.
247Sports National Analyst Hudson Standish praised Thomas, saying, “Physically imposing cornerback prospect, verified around 6-foot-1, 185 pounds with a 78-inch wingspan. He emerged at New Jersey powerhouse Bergen Catholic and was featured in the initial Top 100 for the 2026 cycle after showcasing his talents as a freshman, both as a wide receiver and cornerback.”
This is a huge win for the Buckeyes, who will also be adding cornerback Jakob Weatherspoon from Avon, Ohio, in the season after next. Weatherspoon is ranked as the 17th-best cornerback in his class, and Ohio State has several highly-rated safeties coming in as well.
With this influx of talent in the secondary, Ohio State is poised to continue developing top-tier defensive backs. Under the guidance of Matt Patricia, the unit should remain a force in the years to come. Chris Henry Jr. is another key recruit for the Buckeyes in the Class of 2026.
