NC State Wolfpack football Target Explosive 2027 EDGE From Alabama
The 2027 recruiting cycle is gaining momentum, and head coach Dave Doeren continues to cast a wide net for elite talent. NC State has been aggressive in extending offers to some of the nation’s top prospects, and its latest move puts the Wolfpack in the mix for a highly regarded pass rusher out of Alabama.
Wolfpack Offer Four-Star EDGE
On Feb. 19, NC State offered Ba’Roc Willis, a four-star EDGE from Pell City High School in Pell City, Alabama. Willis shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the opportunity from the Wolfpack.

Willis has quickly emerged as one of the premier defenders in the 2027 class, holding more than 30 Division I offers. Capable of lining up both as a traditional EDGE and off the ball, he has drawn attention from powerhouse programs across the country.
He originally committed to Alabama Crimson Tide football in July 2024 before reopening his recruitment in January, reigniting widespread interest. Now, NC State has entered what is already a competitive race.
According to Rivals Industry Rankings, Willis is rated No. 263 nationally, the No. 25 EDGE in the class, and the No. 12 overall prospect in Alabama.
An Uphill Climb — But Not Impossible
While NC State’s offer came later in the process, the program may have a connection working in its favor. Defensive analyst Roc Bellantoni — who previously coached outside linebackers at Auburn Tigers football in 2025 — had already built a strong relationship with Willis during his time there.
Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine currently lists Alabama as the frontrunner, with Auburn and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football also firmly in the picture.
Still, if Doeren, Bellantoni, and the Wolfpack staff can strengthen their connection and secure a visit to Raleigh — whether this spring or for an official visit — NC State could elevate itself into serious contention for one of the top pass rushers in the 2027 class.
