The Pros and Cons of the Rams’ 2025 Schedule
The Los Angeles Rams’ schedule for the 2025 season has been officially released, and following a strong playoff run last year, the team will need to elevate their game to make it back to the postseason.
Expectations in Los Angeles are high, with the Rams aiming for a Super Bowl appearance. However, if they don’t perform, they risk being one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL, especially after making moves like signing Davante Adams and parting ways with Cooper Kupp to strengthen their roster.
John Breech, a sports writer for CBS Sports, recently highlighted one positive and one negative aspect of the Rams’ upcoming schedule.
The Good: The Rams have a shot at making NFL history. They could become the first team to conquer the “bird gauntlet” — beating all five NFL teams with bird-themed mascots in a single season. This includes matchups with the Eagles, Ravens, Seahawks, Cardinals, and Falcons. While it might not seem significant now, Breech points out that if the Rams get close to achieving this feat, it will be a major talking point as the season progresses. Although the Eagles will likely be their toughest opponent, the Rams are already making strides, especially after eliminating Philadelphia in the playoffs last season.
The Bad: The Rams will face several early road games starting at 10 a.m. PT, which is notoriously difficult for West Coast teams. Since 2022, the Rams have posted a 4-5 record in games played in Central or Eastern time zones. This season, two of their first three games (against the Titans and Eagles) will start at this challenging time, along with two other games later in the season (against the Ravens and Panthers).
To be successful, the Rams will need to overcome the hurdles of adjusting to different time zones. With the goal of making a deep playoff run, they cannot afford a slow start and will need to hit the ground running. Sean McVay will have to keep his team focused, and Matthew Stafford will need to perform at a top-tier level throughout the year for the Rams to stay competitive in the NFC.
