Chicago Bulls Player Reportedly Seeks $150 Million Contract
Josh Giddey, one of the NBA’s most promising young guards, is reportedly seeking a lucrative contract extension. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Giddey is aiming for a deal worth around $150 million, following a standout season with the Chicago Bulls.
At just 22 years old, Giddey posted impressive numbers last season, averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He also shot 46.5% from the field and 37.8% from beyond the arc across 70 games.
This summer, the Bulls face a major decision regarding Giddey’s future, as he enters restricted free agency. Earlier reports from Evan Sidery of Forbes indicated that Giddey could be in line for a contract extension worth approximately $100 million, with an annual salary expected to exceed $25 million.
The Bulls’ priority appears to be keeping Giddey as a core player for the long-term future. However, according to Scotto’s reporting, Giddey is aiming for a deal similar to the five-year, $150 million contract Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs received, which would bring in around $30 million annually.
Given Giddey’s age and recent performance, a significant deal seems quite plausible. After the All-Star break, he was one of the best-performing guards in the league, posting averages of 22.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 2.4 steals and blocks per game, while shooting an impressive 53% from the field, 52% from three-point range, and 81% from the free-throw line.
With the Bulls having missed out on the playoffs after losing to the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament, Giddey’s potential extension remains one of the franchise’s top priorities as they look to solidify their future.
