Darrion Williams Pulls Out of 2025 NBA Draft

Former Texas Tech standout Darrion Williams has officially withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft. Reports confirm that Williams, who had initially set his sights on the NBA, decided to return to college after evaluating his performance at the scouting combine.

Last season, Williams averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists for Texas Tech, but he left the door open for a potential return to Lubbock. “Yeah, I’m open to it,” Williams said. “But I want to be all-in on the draft. I didn’t want to have one foot in and one foot out. I’m fully committed to it. If I need to go back, I’ll go back, but I want to be in the draft.”

However, Williams’ possible return to Texas Tech is now complicated by the recent addition of LeJuan Watts, a forward transferring from Washington State. With Williams in the transfer portal and going through the draft process, Texas Tech acted quickly to secure Watts as a potential replacement. The question now is whether both forwards could coexist on the same team, as they both bring considerable talent to the table.

Currently, Williams is ranked as the third-best player in the transfer portal by On3. While Texas Tech remains a contender for his services, Kansas and NC State are also in the mix. As rosters continue to fill, expect Williams to make his final decision soon.
