Maryland Basketball Adds Kansas Transfer Rakease Passmore
While Maryland missed out on four-star recruit Sebastian Wilkins on Friday, the Terrapins gained a valuable addition from the transfer portal in shooting guard Rakease Passmore.
Passmore, who transferred from Kansas, appeared in 23 games as a true freshman for the Jayhawks. He averaged 0.7 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in 5 minutes per game. A former four-star recruit, Passmore was ranked as a Top 50 prospect in the 2024 class.
Adam Finkelstein, Director of Scouting at 247Sports, provided this analysis of Passmore as a recruit:

“Passmore is a powerful and athletic wing, excelling in transition with the ability to finish explosively, which can shift the momentum of a game. He’s a straight-line driver with limited finesse but is effective at powering through contact. He’s made notable improvements as a shooter and is now capable from beyond the arc with proper spacing and rhythm. Passmore also has potential as a defender, as he can get low in his stance, move laterally, and absorb contact, making him a promising defensive asset in the future.”
