Wild-Flyers Reportedly in Serious Talks for Marco Rossi Trade
The rumors surrounding a potential Marco Rossi trade are heating up and becoming more tangible.
On Thursday, multiple reports surfaced indicating that the Minnesota Wild are actively discussing trade scenarios involving the young forward, with the Philadelphia Flyers being the most prominently mentioned team.
According to various sources, the Wild and Flyers have explored the possibility of trading Rossi to Philadelphia. However, the negotiations have hit a snag, reportedly due to the Flyers’ reluctance to part with winger Tyson Foerster—who recently signed a bridge deal—or one of their upcoming first-round picks. Philadelphia holds the 22nd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft (from the Colorado Avalanche) and another first-rounder from the Edmonton Oilers, which will either be 31st or 32nd overall, depending on the Oilers’ performance in the Cup Finals.
Moreover, another complication in the talks appears to be Rossi’s contract demands. The 23-year-old Austrian center is said to be seeking a deal similar to Matt Boldy’s seven-year, $49 million contract, which may be too steep for both the Wild and the Flyers, should a trade go through.
While reports indicate that the Wild didn’t specifically request Foerster or any of the first-round picks in exchange for Rossi, sources from the Flyers suggest that they would be unwilling to give up those assets for the talented center.
At this point, it’s unclear whether these reports are being leaked from the Flyers’ side to potentially lower the acquisition cost and Rossi’s future salary or if the discussions are still in their early stages, with a possible deal materializing closer to the 2025 NHL Draft on June 27. It’s also possible that another team could enter the mix and snag Rossi for a different package.
