Report Reveals No Interest in Trading Guards Despite Offers
The Indiana Pacers have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NBA this season. After reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last year, the team was expected to build on that success and become more competitive. However, they have taken a significant step backward, currently holding a 9-14 record and having lost four consecutive games.
This struggle has been tough to watch, with no clear solution to their issues. Inconsistent performances have plagued them, and injuries have only added to the challenges, leading to rotation problems.
To address their struggles, the Pacers have explored the trade market, particularly looking to bolster their frontcourt. However, teams pursuing a deal with Indiana should be aware that certain guards are likely unavailable. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Pacers have rejected trade offers for guards TJ McConnell and Bennedict Mathurin, despite interest from other teams.
McConnell, a reliable backup and veteran leader, is highly valued for his defensive effort and overall contribution to the team. Mathurin, a promising young talent with All-Star potential, is seen as a future star. Both have become key parts of Indiana’s lineup, which explains the Pacers’ reluctance to move them. That said, if a compelling offer arises, the team could still consider trading either player.
McConnell is regarded as a valuable role player, especially for a contending team, while Mathurin, still just 22 years old, has significant upside, and the Pacers likely wouldn’t part with him unless a very enticing deal presents itself.
