The Texas A&M Aggies are now the projected favorites to land one of the top two-way players in the 2026 class.
As one of the key months in the recruiting season begins, the Texas A&M Aggies are already building a solid base for what could be another top-10-ranked recruiting class. With 11 commitments so far, the Texas A&M 2026 class is currently ranked No. 6 nationally. If a recent forecast regarding five-star recruit Lamar Brown is accurate, the Aggies could move up into the top five.
In a recent piece by Rivals’ Adam Gorney, he predicted that the five-star prospect from Louisiana, Lamar Brown, is likely to choose Texas A&M.
“Brown will be visiting Miami this weekend, which could make things interesting. However, it appears to be primarily a two-team contest between LSU and Texas A&M, with the Aggies currently in the lead as we head into June,” Gorney notes. “It looks like Texas A&M has the upper hand with Brown, particularly by promoting the opportunity to play on the defensive line, which could be a significant advantage.”
Brown is rated as a five-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite rankings, where he holds the title of the top interior lineman in his class and the best player from Louisiana, making him the 15th overall player in the country. In the Rivals rankings, he is positioned as the 25th player nationally.
Hailing from Baton Rouge, Brown was initially expected to stay in-state and join the LSU Tigers. However, recent developments suggest that Texas A&M is gaining momentum in his recruitment.
Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 292 pounds, Brown is viewed as a potential two-way player who could excel on both the offensive and defensive lines. However, according to Gorney, Texas A&M is emphasizing a defensive position in their pitch to him.
If the Aggies secure the five-star recruit, Brown would become the fourth defensive lineman in their class. Currently, Texas A&M has two edge rushers, Jordan Carter (four-star) and Samu Moala (four-star), along with defensive lineman Jermaine Kinsler (four-star).
