CeeDee Lamb Responds to Controversial Jerry Jones Comments

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has opened up about the controversial comments made by team owner Jerry Jones during their 2024 contract negotiations.

The Cowboys’ 2024 offseason was dominated by contract talks with their two biggest offensive stars, quarterback Dak Prescott and Lamb. Both players received contract extensions just before Week 1, but the negotiations created some drama that carried over into the season. Lamb notably held out of training camp and the preseason, which he later admitted contributed to a slow start.

In a YouTube series centered on the 2024 Cowboys season, Lamb shared his thoughts on the holdout and reflected on one of Jones’ most controversial remarks. During the negotiations, Jones stated there was no urgency to finalize Lamb’s contract, which Lamb responded to with a tweet saying “lol.” Now, Lamb has acknowledged how hurtful those comments were.

“Wow, yeah, that was a dagger. Way to ruin my day,” Lamb said about Jones’ statement.

Jones later tried to downplay the comments, explaining that he didn’t think the deal was urgent because Lamb wasn’t planning to play in the preseason. However, Jones’ dismissal of the importance of offseason preparation, despite his long tenure in the NFL, was seen as tone-deaf, especially after the Cowboys’ performance on the field.

And it seems Jones hasn’t fully learned from his previous missteps. Micah Parsons, another star on the team, has yet to receive his contract extension. While Jones hasn’t made any inflammatory comments about Parsons—yet—there are still months before the regular season begins, leaving room for more potential drama.
