Rams Add Tackle D.J. Humphries to Roster
The Los Angeles Rams bolstered their offensive line by signing veteran tackle D.J. Humphries on Thursday, as confirmed by his agency, AMDG Sports.
Humphries, a former first-round pick from the University of Florida, played last season with the Kansas City Chiefs after spending eight seasons (2015-2023) with the Arizona Cardinals.
The 31-year-old from South Carolina brings versatility to the Rams, as he has experience at both right and left tackle throughout his 10-year NFL career.
With Humphries joining the team, the Rams’ tackle room now features a deep pool of talent, including established starters, veteran players, and undrafted rookies. The reason behind the signing is unclear, especially considering the team recently added David Quessenberry two weeks ago.
As it stands, Alaric Jackson and Rob Havenstein are expected to be the starting tackles, barring injury, while Humphries will compete with AJ Arcuri, KT Leveston, Warren McClendon Jr., Trey Wedig, and Quessenberry for backup roles. Notably, Arcuri saw playing time in 2024, and McClendon Jr. was chosen over veteran Joe Noteboom to back up the tackles during the playoffs.
When Humphries joins the team, he will undergo the standard onboarding process, which includes a film introduction to the rest of the squad. Head coach Sean McVay recently highlighted this process, noting that it’s part of the Rams’ efforts to welcome new players, including free agents and rookies. McVay mentioned that Carter Crutchfield, the Rams’ Chief of Staff, has been instrumental in helping create a positive environment for new additions. McVay shared that the process for players like Davante Adams, Poona Ford, and others helps build camaraderie and honor each player’s unique contributions.
