LaVar Ball Makes Bold Claim About LaMelo’s Future in the NBA
LaVar Ball recently made a strong statement about his son, LaMelo Ball, who is widely regarded as one of the NBA’s most talented players. Despite his skills, the 23-year-old has yet to make it to the playoffs in his first five seasons.
In a video posted on Sunday, LaVar shared his thoughts on LaMelo’s potential.
LaVar (via Big Baller Brand) said, “If you want a championship, listen to me. I’m making it simple. Everyone’s talking about trades and where LaMelo should go. I don’t care where you place him, but I’ll tell you this—if you put him with his brother, he’ll return to his original position, which is the two-guard. He loves to score, but the only person who can move him off the point guard spot is his brother Lonzo. Put Lonzo, Melo, and Gelo together, and nobody can beat my three boys playing fast.”
In his fifth NBA season, LaMelo averaged 25.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, with a shooting line of 40.5% from the field and 33.9% from three over 47 games. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending injury in March.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania (March 28), LaMelo will miss the rest of the season after undergoing two minor procedures to address ankle and wrist issues. Despite playing through pain in recent weeks, he and the team decided it was best to consult doctors for further treatment.
Meanwhile, LaMelo’s older brother, Lonzo, made his return to action after nearly three years off. The Chicago Bulls point guard posted averages of 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 36.6% from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc over 35 games.
