Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse men’s basketball team is set to face in-state foe Binghamton in a non-conference matchup next season, per a report from CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.
According to Rothstein, the Orange will host the Bearcats on their home court.
Syracuse has faced Binghamton five times in program history, winning each matchup by at least 20 points.
Last season, Binghamton posted a 15-17 overall record, including a 7-9 mark in America East Conference play. The Bearcats were ranked No. 320 nationally out of 364 teams by analytics expert Ken Pomeroy.
Head coach Levell Sanders is entering his fifth year at the helm. In each of his four previous seasons, Binghamton has finished within one game of a .500 record in conference play, though the program has yet to achieve an overall winning season under his leadership.
The Bearcats’ roster will look quite different this season, as most of their key contributors have moved on via graduation or the transfer portal. In response, Binghamton has looked to restock by bringing in transfers from La Salle, Buffalo, and George Mason.
Meanwhile, the ACC has announced a reduction in league play, trimming the conference schedule from 20 games to 18. This adjustment allows Syracuse to schedule 13 non-conference matchups.
Among the Orange’s confirmed non-conference games are a home showdown with Tennessee in the ACC-SEC Challenge, three games in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, and a matchup against Mercyhurst.
Syracuse’s full ACC schedule for next season is still to be released.
Syracuse’s home slate for the upcoming season includes matchups against California, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, SMU, and Virginia Tech.
On the road, the Orange will travel to face Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Wake Forest.
The specific dates and times for these games have yet to be announced.
