Once hailed as the Mets’ top prospect, Francisco Alvarez entered the majors with lofty expectations as the team’s catcher of the future, known for his impressive offensive potential.
However, his production this season has fallen short of those hopes. Over 138 plate appearances, Alvarez has posted a .236/.319/.333 slash line, with only three home runs and 11 RBIs.
