Four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson has narrowed his recruitment to five schools and locked in a commitment date, signaling a major step in his journey as a top 2027 prospect.
Johnson, a standout from Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia, is widely regarded as a top-200 player in his class. Tennessee identified him early as a major target, and now the Vols are among his final five choices.
The highly touted signal-caller will announce his college decision on August 3, choosing between Tennessee, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Florida State.
Johnson recently visited Knoxville, where he had meaningful conversations with the coaching staff.
“What really stood out was the time I spent with the coaches,” Johnson shared. “My family and I appreciated the interaction. I got to spend some quality time with Coach Josh Heupel and Coach Joey Halzle, which meant a lot.”
Nicknamed “Juice,” Johnson said he’s already feeling the love from the Tennessee program.
“They’re definitely making me a top priority,” he said, as Tennessee continues to seek its first commitment for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
