Alabama’s 2028 Recruiting Surge Is Picking Up Serious Momentum

The future of Alabama football continues to look extremely promising.

While Kalen DeBoer and his staff work to finish what is already developing into a strong 2027 recruiting class, the Crimson Tide have simultaneously begun laying the groundwork for 2028. Early indications suggest Alabama could once again be on track to assemble one of the nation’s elite recruiting classes.

Rivals national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons recently provided another positive update for Alabama, highlighting several top prospects who are trending toward Tuscaloosa. Two recruits in particular now appear to be moving significantly in the Crimson Tide’s direction.

Alabama Continues to Gain Ground on Top Recruits

Alabama has already established itself among the nation’s best 2028 classes, with seven commitments currently on the books. The group includes quarterbacks Charles Scott and Kingston Preyear, linebacker Tyseer Young, and offensive tackle Anthony Blaylock Jr.

Simmons has now made predictions involving two more high-priority prospects.

One is four-star in-state linebacker Nehemiah McCary of Maplesville. McCary has been open about his longstanding connection with Alabama and his desire to play for the Crimson Tide.

“It’s always been my dream school,” McCary told Rivals. “I always wanted to play for Alabama.”

His relationship with Alabama outside linebackers coach Christian Robinson has only strengthened that connection.

“He coaches me like I’m already one of his,” McCary said. “He’s trying to make me a better man and a better player.”

McCary has made multiple trips to Tuscaloosa and remains in frequent contact with Alabama’s coaching staff. Based on the latest projection from Simmons, the Crimson Tide continue to hold a strong advantage in his recruitment.

Alabama is also making significant progress with Huntsville offensive lineman Joey Fleming. The Crimson Tide have been pursuing Fleming for an extended period, and the prospect has spent plenty of time around the program while building relationships with the coaching staff.

Rivals now views Alabama as the early favorite to land Fleming, who is regarded as one of the state’s top offensive line prospects.

Crimson Tide Still in the Mix for Numerous Blue-Chip Prospects

The momentum doesn’t end with McCary and Fleming.

Simmons also indicated that Alabama is in a favorable position with several other highly rated prospects as the high school season approaches.

On offense, some of the names drawing attention include Jasper running back Zion Coger, Wetumpka tight end Kaleb Ballard, and offensive lineman Samuel Bailey. Bailey is expected to attract serious competition from programs such as Auburn, Ohio State, and Florida, but Alabama continues to prioritize his recruitment.

The Crimson Tide are also maintaining an impressive presence on the defensive side of the ball.

Alabama remains among the leading contenders for elite edge prospects Cassell Cruickshank, Tyzon Swann, and Alabama native Keoni Snipes. The Crimson Tide are also firmly involved in the recruitment of Parker safety CJ Craig-James, who has generated interest from Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Auburn, and Ohio State.

Former Alabama prospect Tyler Boyd, who now plays high school football in Georgia, is another defensive back Alabama continues to target.

Could Alabama Be Building Another Elite Recruiting Class?

There is still a long way to go before the 2028 recruiting class reaches National Signing Day, but Alabama’s early success is already attracting attention.

Adding McCary and Fleming would give the Crimson Tide even more momentum and further strengthen a class that is already among the nation’s best. It would also fit Alabama’s longstanding emphasis on developing elite talent along the offensive and defensive lines.

If DeBoer and his staff can keep adding highly regarded recruits while delivering another strong season on the field this fall, Alabama could put itself in position to compete for the No. 1 recruiting class in the country when the 2028 cycle eventually concludes.
