Oscar Rios Commits to Arizona Over UCLA
Oscar Rios has officially committed to the Arizona Wildcats, choosing them over the UCLA Bruins. Arizona has been making waves in recruiting for the 2026 class, landing several talented prospects. However, one key position they’ve been missing so far is quarterback, which is arguably the most crucial position on the field for the offense.
Rios, one of the top quarterbacks in the class, had been on the Wildcats’ radar for a while. He visited three schools officially: Oklahoma State, UCLA, and Arizona. After completing those visits, the Downey High School standout set his commitment date for June 27th and decided to choose between the two Pac-12 schools: Arizona and UCLA.
In the end, Rios announced he would be joining the Wildcats, choosing them over UCLA. At one point, the Bruins were his frontrunner, but with several top quarterbacks, including Nico Iamaleava, joining their roster this offseason, Rios decided to make his own path.
With Rios now in the fold, he becomes the highest-rated recruit in Arizona’s class and could potentially attract even more talent, given his significant influence in the recruiting world.
Rios, a former Purdue commit, brings a lot of valuable skills to the Wildcats’ offense. He’s a high-level prospect with excellent accuracy, precision, and a strong arm. He can make deep throws to the back corner with ease and has proven to be a capable dual-threat quarterback, able to make plays with his legs when needed. While not the fastest, he has the mobility to escape pressure and extend plays, which will serve him well in Arizona’s system. Given his talent and development potential, he has a high ceiling, with the possibility of hearing his name called in the NFL Draft in the future.
With his commitment, Rios could see significant playing time early in his career at Arizona, especially after choosing the Wildcats over UCLA, who worked hard to land him.
