Oregon Ducks Bolster Defense With Commitment From 4-Star Linebacker

The Oregon Ducks have added another major piece to their defense, landing a commitment from 4-star linebacker Cal Feister, who was considered the top remaining uncommitted prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

With the college football season approaching, Oregon continues to strengthen a roster expected to compete at the highest level. According to recruiting reporter Hayes Fawcett, Feister chose the Ducks over Georgia, Ohio State, and Cal.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound linebacker brings an impressive production history to Eugene. During his junior season of high school football, Feister recorded 102 tackles, including 32 tackles for loss, along with nine sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns.

He also contributed on offense, rushing for 895 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 9.7 yards per carry across nine games.

Feister Brings Versatility to Oregon

Feister’s outstanding junior campaign earned him Northeast Inland District Defensive Player of the Year honors, and he came close to taking home the 2025 Ohio Mr. Football award.

Although he has experience making an impact on both sides of the ball, his primary role at Oregon is expected to come on defense. He will join a Ducks unit that already features talented players such as edge rushers Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, as well as safety Koi Perich.

Adding a linebacker with Feister’s production and physical tools gives Oregon another promising defensive piece as the program pursues championship aspirations.

Oregon Faces a Challenging Schedule

The Ducks enter the season with significant expectations, meaning Feister will have the opportunity to join a program with plenty of national attention.

Oregon opens its season at home against Boise State before facing several major tests throughout the year. The schedule includes a road matchup against USC at the Coliseum, a home meeting with UCLA, and a November trip to Ohio State.

With those marquee games ahead, Oregon’s defense will be tested early and often. Feister’s arrival gives the Ducks another highly regarded young talent to develop as they pursue their goal of competing for a national championship.
