Titans Will Remain the NFL’s Worst Until They Prove Otherwise
The Tennessee Titans must show tangible results to earn any respect in the NFL.
After a dismal 3-14 record last season, which landed them the No. 1 overall pick, the Titans have a lot to prove going into 2025. While there’s some optimism for improvement, they will need to demonstrate it on the field in the upcoming season.
In Yahoo! Sports’ latest power rankings, the Titans ranked dead last at No. 32.
“A 3-14 season served as a wake-up call,” Yahoo! Sports wrote. “The Titans not only hit rock bottom, but they also fell into complete obscurity. They were truly dreadful, and outside of some Will Levis memes and first-year head coach Brian Callahan’s open criticism of Levis, nobody paid attention. The team lacked an identity, a marketable star, and had a depleted roster with only one glimmer of hope for the future.”
That hope, according to the report, was the No. 1 pick in the draft. While the Titans could have traded the pick or selected players like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter, they ultimately chose to build for the future by drafting quarterback Cam Ward, a record-breaking NCAA talent from Incarnate Word, Washington State, and Miami.
Joining the Titans in the bottom five of the rankings are the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and New York Jets.
While there’s optimism in Tennessee, it’s just that—optimism. Without results to back it up, the Titans’ positive outlook remains unsubstantiated, leaving them with much to prove.
The Titans will remain stuck with their current reputation until they start winning games and put the disastrous 2024 season behind them. Until then, they’ll have to focus on preparing for the season, with training camp set to begin when players report on July 22.
