Kansas Reportedly Set to Host European Basketball Prospect This Week
Bill Self and Kansas are reportedly showing interest in an emerging European prospect who could become part of the Jayhawks’ 2027 recruiting class.

Kansas is still working to fill the final spot on its upcoming roster, but Self and his staff have also begun focusing on the Class of 2027. With five-star recruit Javon Bardwell recently decommitting, the Jayhawks have some work to do to rebuild their recruiting class.
That process could begin this week. Following the end of a recruiting dead period, Kansas is expected to host German wing Fabian Kayser for an official visit.
According to 247Sports and JayhawkSlant, Kayser is scheduled to arrive in Lawrence in two days. The 17-year-old, who will turn 18 in March, is from Germany and most recently played for Real Madrid’s U22 Liga team.
At 6-foot-8 and 220 pounds, Kayser has the size to play on the wing while also possessing guard skills. He averaged 10.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for Real Madrid last season.
Although his efficiency was inconsistent and he still has plenty of areas to develop, Kayser is viewed as a high-upside prospect with significant room for improvement as he continues to mature physically.
NBA Draft Room previously offered a positive evaluation of Kayser, describing him as a big guard/wing with an advanced offensive skill set. The scouting report particularly highlighted his shooting ability and NBA-level potential, while noting that he is still developing physically.
Kansas has been monitoring several European prospects recently, including Serbian prospect Mihailo Mušikić, whose eligibility situation could determine whether he is able to play for the Jayhawks this season.
For Kansas, adding a player with Kayser’s potential could be especially valuable following Bardwell’s departure. His upcoming visit should provide a better indication of whether the Jayhawks can make him a significant part of their 2027 recruiting efforts.
