Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. has looked outstanding since returning from his second ACL injury. While his stolen base totals are down, he remains one of the game’s elite talents.

Despite not making his 2025 season debut until late May, Acuña was voted in as an All-Star Game starter—a testament to his impact and reputation. However, as the Braves continue to struggle and fall further from playoff contention, speculation has emerged about the possibility of trading their franchise player.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale put those rumors to rest, reporting that the Braves have no interest in moving Acuña.

“Atlanta has zero interest in trading Ronald Acuña Jr.,” Nightengale wrote. “He’s making $17 million a year through 2026, and the Braves hold club options for $17 million in both 2027 and 2028. He’s not going anywhere.”

Acuña’s contract is extremely team-friendly, but the Braves would be smart to explore a long-term extension that reflects his value. Injuries have taken a toll on the roster this season, and missing the postseason would be disappointing—but the core is still strong, and Atlanta remains well-positioned for a rebound next year.

Acuña has also been vocal about his love for the city and franchise.

“Outside of Venezuela, Atlanta is my second home, and I love being here,” he told The Athletic’s David O’Brien. “I want to continue to be part of this organization for the rest of my career. I’m comfortable here. I know everyone. It would be a dream to stay in Atlanta.”

Ronald Acuña Jr. is now a five-time All-Star, a three-time Silver Slugger, and an MVP winner. With those accolades, he’s clearly earned a pay bump—and the Braves shouldn’t even consider trading him. Instead, their focus should be on securing his future in Atlanta long-term and staying aggressive in their quest for another championship.
