Milwaukee Bucks Officially Sign Veteran Guard Gary Harris
The Milwaukee Bucks have officially added veteran guard Gary Harris to their roster.
Harris, 30, has spent 11 seasons in the NBA, playing for both the Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets. Last season, with Orlando, he averaged 3.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, shooting 38.3% from the field across 48 appearances.
The Bucks confirmed the signing this week.
Bucks.com reported: “The Milwaukee Bucks have signed guard Gary Harris.”
Harris was selected 19th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Michigan State. He spent the first six and a half years of his career with Denver, where he had a standout season in 2018, averaging 17.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He also shot 48.5% from the field and 39.6% from three in 67 games.
Though Harris had a quieter season last year, he could still be a valuable addition as a shooter, potentially complementing stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Myles Turner.
On January 17, 2022, the Orlando Magic noted:
“Over his last 15 games, Gary Harris averaged 17.1 points, 45.4% shooting from the field, 40% from three on 6.9 attempts per game, and 88.1% from the free-throw line. He had 10 games with 17 or more points.”
The Bucks, who won the 2021 NBA Championship, finished the 2023 season as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 48-34 record. However, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on July 1:
“Free agent Gary Harris has agreed to a two-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, with a player option on the second year. The Bucks continue to strengthen their roster with a veteran wing who has played key roles for playoff teams in Denver and Orlando.”
