Texas Tech Near the Top of Rivals’ List for Big 12 Elite Commitments in 2026 Class

The Big 12 Conference has been on a recruiting surge, securing blue-chip talent across the board. As of now, the conference boasts 21 of Rivals’ top 300 recruits. Texas Tech, along with BYU and Kansas, is among the leaders, each holding three top 300 commits. Other schools like Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, and Iowa State also have two top 300 recruits. Notably, Colorado, under Deion Sanders, has yet to secure any top 300 commitments, which is surprising given Sanders’ focus on the transfer portal, despite minimal noise in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

There are 21 prospects in the initial Rivals300 that are committed to a Big 12 school. Breakdown by school:

2 — Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Texas Tech

For Texas Tech, the centerpiece of their 2026 class is standout offensive tackle Felix Ojo. Though his ranking slipped slightly, Ojo remains highly respected and is currently ranked 12th overall by Rivals. Ojo would be a prized addition to any program’s recruiting class, making his commitment to Tech a significant surprise.

With plenty of time remaining to refine their 2026 class, Texas Tech is aiming to break into the top 25. Currently ranked 34th overall by Rivals, they have another big target in four-star wide receiver Chase Campbell, who is expected to commit soon. Ranked 135th by Rivals, Campbell is heavily leaning towards choosing Lubbock for the next few years. With room to grow and head coach Joey McGuire at the helm, the Red Raiders have the resources to make a strong push.
