Ravens Veteran Poised for a Career Resurgence
One of the Baltimore Ravens’ veterans is primed for a potential comeback in 2025.
Despite already having one of the NFL’s most talented rosters, some experts believe the Ravens could become even stronger this season, thanks to a potential rebound by one of their players.
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports suggests that running back Keaton Mitchell could experience a resurgence in 2025 after a rocky start to his NFL career.
“This is now Mitchell’s third year in Baltimore’s explosive run offense,” Trapasso writes. “With Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry leading the charge, Mitchell has the potential to be the perfect ‘lightning’ complement to Henry’s ‘thunder.’ While veteran Justice Hill stands as the primary backup to Henry, Mitchell is poised to become a more reliable big-play threat when Henry needs rest.”
Mitchell certainly has the talent to bounce back. At just 23 years old, he has already showcased his potential at the next level. As a rookie in 2023, Mitchell averaged an impressive 8.4 yards per carry before suffering an ACL tear in a Week 15 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Injuries have been Mitchell’s biggest hurdle. After initially making the Ravens’ 53-man roster, he was placed on injured reserve just days later. His ACL injury also sidelined him for much of the 2024 season.
However, Mitchell appears to be back to full health now, a year and a half after the injury, and was reportedly one of the standout performers during Baltimore’s OTAs this summer.
“I feel like I’m back better than when I first got here,” Mitchell said. “It’s going to be a movie for sure.”
If Mitchell can stay healthy and return to the form he showed before his injury, the Ravens’ offense will become even more dangerous, and Mitchell could emerge as a strong contender for NFL Comeback Player of the Year.
