Titans Relying on L’Jarius Sneed’s Comeback for Success
The Tennessee Titans are counting on a strong resurgence from L’Jarius Sneed to make a significant impact this season.
The Titans traded for the former Kansas City Chiefs star with the hope that he would become their new shutdown cornerback. However, Sneed’s first season in Nashville was cut short by injury, as he played in only five games due to a hamstring issue.
Now entering his second season with the team, the Titans need Sneed to live up to the expectations that came with his trade and large contract.
“The Titans acquired Sneed last offseason but didn’t see much return on their investment in terms of playing time or production. Injuries slowed him down, and the team eventually decided to shut him down,” team reporter Jim Wyatt noted.
“Now, the Titans are hoping Sneed will return to his former self in year two. While he didn’t practice this offseason, he spent a lot of time at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park, focusing on his recovery. When he was in town, he seemed to be in a good place, fully committed to getting back to full health.”
“The team will continue to monitor Sneed’s progress, hoping it pays off this fall. But first, he’ll need to prove himself in camp. If he avoids the PUP list, that would be a promising start.”
Though Sneed has shown some signs of improvement, his true progress will be clear once training camp begins.
If Sneed can become a key contributor to the Titans’ defense, it would be a huge boost for the team. If not, the defense may struggle again, and another sub-.500 season could be on the horizon for Tennessee.
The Titans report to training camp on Tuesday, with practice set to begin the following day.
