Raiders Release Four Players

On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Raiders made several roster moves that will have an impact as the team heads into training camp.

Although the Raiders were not on the field for their first day of training camp, they were busy behind the scenes. They made adjustments to their roster, including the release of several players, while also adding new talent. The team is set to take the field for its first practice tomorrow.

On Monday, the Raiders waived wide receivers Zakhari Franklin and Key’Shawn Smith, as well as linebacker Jailin Walker and cornerback Mello Dotson.

These moves followed the addition of new players to the roster, including wide receivers Phillip Dorsett II and Seth Williams, guard Atonio Mafi, and safeties Jamal Adams and JT Woods.

The Raiders have had ongoing questions in the safety and wide receiver positions, two areas that feature a mix of young talent. With these new signings, the team has brought in experienced veterans who can mentor the younger players and compete for spots. This is something head coach Pete Carroll has emphasized throughout the offseason.

Carroll has also spoken about the importance of continually improving by adding new players, and Monday’s moves reflected that. Now, the Raiders will see what these new additions bring to the table.

“We want to win a lot of games—plain and simple,” Carroll said Tuesday. “For 20 years, I’ve been averaging 10 wins a season. What are my expectations? We want to win a bunch, and I don’t care who knows that. It’s not about what people hear; it’s about what we do.”

Carroll also highlighted the importance of being a good teammate, noting that every player has the opportunity to improve in this area and help the team in doing so.

The Raiders have been active this offseason, making moves to strengthen various positions. And with training camp still underway, it’s clear that the roster adjustments are far from over.
