Oregon Ducks Face Tough Competition to Land Five-Star Recruit Anthony “Tank” Jones
The Oregon Ducks are in a fierce recruiting battle to secure five-star EDGE prospect Anthony “Tank” Jones, but distance may be a key disadvantage in their pursuit of the talented player.
Head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks have been working hard to strengthen their 2026 recruiting class, and Jones is a major target. The five-star EDGE rusher is set to announce his commitment on August 2, with Oregon, Alabama, and Texas A&M in the running for his services.
However, according to On3, Alabama currently holds the edge in the race to land Jones. The Mobile, Alabama, native has been a fan of the Crimson Tide since childhood and has been heavily recruited by them for quite some time. In fact, Alabama offered Jones while Nick Saban was still at the helm.
Jones, who attends St. Paul’s Episcopal High School, is a dual-sport athlete and made a significant impact on the football field in his junior season, tallying 84 tackles, 18 tackles-for-loss, and 16 sacks.
With Alabama’s longstanding relationship with Jones and his ties to the area, the Ducks face an uphill battle in securing his commitment. Still, the Ducks will continue to push, hoping to make a strong enough case to sway the five-star recruit.
