Titans’ Rookie QB Making Strong First Impression

The Tennessee Titans kicked off their 2025 training camp on Wednesday, marking the beginning of their journey toward Week 1 and a hopeful playoff push.

This training camp follows an offseason filled with significant roster changes, including the addition of wide receivers Tyler Lockett and rookie Elic Ayomanor to bolster the passing game alongside Calvin Ridley.

However, the most notable addition was rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick. The former Miami Hurricane was widely regarded as the top quarterback in his class, leading the Titans to move on from Will Levis as their starting QB in hopes of securing a future franchise leader.

Fans are buzzing with excitement over Ward, and according to Jim Wyatt of Titans.com, the hype seems justified after his performance in the team’s first practice.

“Quarterback Cam Ward called his first practice ‘mid’ in his opinion, but I thought he had a solid first day,” Wyatt reports. “Ward completed his first four passes in the 7-on-7 drills, finishing 7-of-8 in that segment. He then went 3-of-4 in the first team period and 2-of-5 in the final session. Overall, I had Ward at 12-of-17 on the day. He delivered a sharp throw to tight end Chig Okonkwo early and was mostly accurate. His only incompletion in the 7-on-7 was a ball that sailed over Calvin Ridley’s reach. While he missed a few throws, he avoided making any major mistakes.”

Though it’s important to remember that training camp practices in shorts don’t always reflect game situations, it’s encouraging to see Ward perform well and show he has the potential to lead the Titans in 2025.
