Phoenix Suns Reportedly Signing Jordan Goodwin
The Phoenix Suns are set to claim guard Jordan Goodwin, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Goodwin, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2024-25 season, posted averages of 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He also shot 43.8% from the field and 38.2% from three-point range over 29 games.
Earlier this week, Goodwin was waived by the Lakers.
As reported by Charania on July 20, the Lakers released Goodwin to free up space on the roster for Marcus Smart: “Goodwin emerged as a key rotation player for the Lakers late last season, appearing in 29 games and four playoff contests. He, along with Shake Milton, was waived to make room for Smart.”
However, just a few days later, Charania confirmed that Goodwin is now being claimed by the Phoenix Suns.
Charania reported: “The Phoenix Suns have claimed former Lakers guard Jordan Goodwin off waivers. He’s a gritty, high-potential addition to their backcourt.”
Goodwin has also played for the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards, in addition to his time with the Lakers and Suns. He appeared in 40 games for Phoenix during the 2023-24 season.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Goodwin’s contract is worth $2.3 million, with only $25,000 guaranteed. The rest of the deal is fully guaranteed if he’s not waived by January 7, making it a low-risk acquisition for the Suns.
The Suns finished last season 11th in the Western Conference with a 36-46 record, marking their first missed playoff appearance since 2020.
